Hebrews 12:1-2

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is moving along nicely. We have six members, four experienced and two beginners.
We meet every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in the conference room. Several items are completed, and we are planning to have a blessing of the shawls during the service Sunday, November, 23rd.
"Shawls, made for centrueis, universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles." (Written in 1988: Janet Bristow c. 2008)
These items may be called Prayer Shawls, Comfort Shawls, Peace shawls, Mantles, or Scarves, but whatever the title, the maker begins with prayer and continues prayer throughout the making of the item and ends with a final blessing before sending the shawl to its recipient.
In addition to the different styles of 'shawls,' scarves may be made and given to persons such as college students, who could wear them and feel their comfort with less bulk.
The maker may have a person for whom the item is intended or wait until its completion and make the decision then.
Our recipients will come from suggestions from you, our participants, pastoral staff and members and friends of our congregation.
Shawls may be used for: comfort after a loss, prayer or meditation, marriage, birth, illness, graduation, birthday, anniversary, ordination, or during a time of stress.
Although typically the shawls were knit, they may also be crocheted, quilted, woven or sewn. We will have pattern suggestion available but you may have a favorite of your own. We have some needles and yarn available, but you may prefer to provide your own.
If you aren't in to crafting perhaps you would like to help with funding of implements and materials.
Need to learn? We can teach you!
