Faith is renewed again and again. Many of us remember when we first trusted God, but faith is also an everyday commitment. At Shechem, Joshua boldly puts the question directly to the people of Israel: whom will you serve? He doesn’t assume their answer, and he admits that some may turn away, yet he declares, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” In the New Testament, Paul tells the Thessalonians that their turn from idols to serve the living God was plain for everyone to see.
This Sunday we’ll ask ourselves: who are we serving, and is it obvious?
This Sunday is also a special stewardship emphasis Sunday
