What is the "work" of the church? Why do we do "acts of mercy"?

We do not do acts of mercy because we have made something of ourselves, and out of our goodness we think we should "change the world." Neither do we do acts of mercy because we look out upon the world, and we found some people "deserving of our charity." Instead, we recognize we are saved by Grace, not our works: we are recipients of the kindness of Jesus. And he has made us, his handiwork, to do good works by that same grace.

We are to show the same amazing grace we have been shown, in the same love, generosity, compassion, kindness, and love which Christ showed to us. This is our act of gratitude. In 2025-2026, FBCM's Work goal is to "exalt God by following Jesus' example of serving others, rather than seeking to be served ourselves."

We do this as we:

  • Serve – We actively and practically help and work alongside our neighbors.

  • Support – We give sacrificially to help those in need through regular offerings and donations.

  • Share – We care for church members who are sick, home bound, or struggling, making sure they remain part of our life together.

We gather at 309 East Adams Street in Muncie at 10:45 AM every Sunday
