The Way, The Truth, & the Life

When we say that Jesus is The Way, The Truth, And the Life (as we should, Jesus says those words about himself!), we often prioritize the Truth and Life. Those are surely important, but we should not neglect the way.

As Eugene Peterson in The Jesus Way:

We cannot skip the way of Jesus in our hurry to get the truth of Jesus as he is worshiped and proclaimed. The way of Jesus is the way that we practice and come to understand the truth of Jesus, living Jesus in our homes and workplaces, with our friends and family.

Jesus doesn't provide a way, he is the way. And so to come to understand the Jesus Way is an indispensable step in allowing us to have "have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10b). The Jesus way is the way we abide, and Jesus's prayer is that his disciples abide in him (John 17).

As we gather for worship this week, we will consider anew the Jesus way, so we can grasp again, or for the first time, what it means that Jesus is The Way, The Truth & The Life.
