The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.36W hen he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”
They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.
-from John 1:29-40
The Way proclaims how we become like Christ.
In the time of the New Testament, it was common for disciples to find a teacher they liked and respected. Then they would go to that teacher and argue a case for why the teacher should accept them as a disciple.
Jesus, though, had other ideas! The famous twelve disciples weren't looking for Jesus. They didn't apply and get accepted because they were the most impressive candidates.
But someone they knew-- John the Baptist -- helped introduce them to Jesus.
This is the kind of "discipling church" First Baptist Church Muncie (FBCM) wants to be: one that helps others see and accept Jesus's invitation to "Come and See" just as John the Baptist did.
In 2025-26, FBCM's goal for The Way is to "proclaim God's faithfulness with people who are curious about faith, as well as new believers. We will offer a growth track to help us all 'come and see' who Jesus is and grow spiritually."
We will accomplish this by having welcoming worship, caring mentorship, and spiritual friendship, just like we saw with John the Baptist who pointed his own disciples back to Jesus Christ.
