Overview

First Baptist Church Muncie is seeking a part-time Worship Arts Pastor to lead our congregation in Christ-centered, intergenerational worship. We’re looking for someone with a servant’s heart, musical ability, and a desire to guide the church in meaningful and Spirit-led worship that honors both tradition and innovation.

We currently enjoy a blended style of worship, drawing from both contemporary Christian music and traditional hymnody. Our ideal candidate values collaboration and is passionate about creating a worship atmosphere that draws people into God’s presence across all generations.

Hours & Compensation

• Hours: 12–15 hours per week

• Compensation:Up to $25,000 annually, with flexibility to divide between salary, housing allowance, and insurance benefits based on the candidate’s needs.

• Vacation: 4 weeks

Key Responsibilities

Worship Leadership

• Lead & model worship to our congregation during Sunday morning service

• Communicate and rehearse with worship volunteers (musicians, vocalists, and tech team)

• Collaborate with those managing sound, slides, and livestream

• Support special services and church events as needed 

• Maintain a flexible schedule for rehearsals, services, and seasonal events

• Assist with accurate and timely CCLI reporting
  

Worship Planning

• Stay informed on biblically based practices in both contemporary and traditional worship music

• Recruit, schedule, and support volunteers for music and tech ministries.

• Prepare rehearsal materials and introduce new songs to the congregation

• Assist in finalizing music information for ProPresenter slides

• Collaborate with other ministry departments to ensure cohesive programming

Team Development

• Cultivate a healthy, encouraging environment for music and tech volunteers

• Maintain open communication with church leadership, staff, and the congregation about worship ministry initiatives

• Attend weekly staff meetings with the pastors and annual CCT planning retreats

Qualifications & Expectations

• A growing, active relationship with Jesus Christ

• Comfortable working within the theological framework of the American Baptist Churches USA (ABC-USA) and American Baptist Churches Indiana and Kentucky (ABC-IN / KY)

• Demonstrated musical proficiency (either vocal or instrumental required; both are ideal)

• Familiarity with both traditional hymns and contemporary worship music

• Experience working with or leading volunteer teams

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Dependable, flexible, and collaborative in nature

• Familiarity with worship technology (e.g., ProPresenter, Planning Center, livestreaming, sound systems) is a plus

• Bachelor degree preferred, or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
